Sassa provides social grants to the financially needy citizens of South Africa. Sassa offers offer es various types of grants to eligible individuals to provide themselves with their basic needs. The application process is very simple and you can use the official SASSA service portal to submit your grant application, if you have not applied yet.
Sassa provides a monthly Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R350 grant. However, specific payment dates are not set due to the high volume of applications Sassa must process each month. Sassa payments are made in the first week of every month, However, If the exact date of payment falls on a weekend or a public holiday, the payment will be made on the next working day. Sassa dates for June are provided below;
- Older Persons or Pensioners Grants: 4 March 2025
- Disability Grants: 5 March 2025
- Children’s and all other Grants: 6 March 2025

Grant Payment Method
Sassa provides the recipient with various payment methods which include;
- Payment at any bank ATM, using your SASSA gold card
- Payment at a collection point like Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, Boxer and USave stores
The SRD grant recipient must have a current bank account, proper identification documents, and a registered mobile phone number in the recipient’s recognised name. Also, You should wait a few days to receive your grant money if you want to avoid long queues on payment dates.
