How to Successfully Apply for the R350 Unemployment Grant
The R350 grant for the unemployed also known as the Social Relief of Distress, is a temporary offer of help designed for unemployed youth and for those in such grave material need that they are unable to satisfy the most basic necessities of themselves or their family.
To apply for this grant, the applicant must be eligible and Applications can be submitted via WhatsApp, the SRD Website or the SASSA Chatbot, however, only one application must be submitted at a time, submitting more than one application will not affect your application process in any way.

Who can Apply For R350 Grant?
To be eligible for the program, the applicant must;
- Be a South African Citizen
- Be A Refugee in South Africa
- Be an Asylum Seeker in South Africa with a valid Section 22 permit or visa
- Be a Special Permit Holder in South Africa (under the Special Angolan Dispensation, the Lesotho Exemption Permit Dispensation or the Zimbabwe Exemption Permit Dispensation)
- Be between 18 and 60 years old
- Meet the means test, with an income of R624 or less per month
- Be unemployed and NOT be receiving financial support from any other source
- Have insufficient financial means to support yourself
- NOT be receiving any other social grants for yourself
- NOT be contributing towards or eligible for UIF payment
- NOT be unreasonably refuse to accept employment or educational opportunities
- NOT be receiving a stipend from NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme)

How To Apply For 350 Grant For Unemployed
Apply for the R350 grant, the applicant must choose an application method either online via the official website of the agency, in-person or submit an application via WhatsApp, or via the SASSA Chatbot.
To Apply In-Person for R350 Grant For Unemployed;
- Visit a SASSA office close to you
- Completed the SASSA application form in the presence of a SASSA officer
- After completing the application form completely, you will be given a dated stamped receipt that includes the name of the SASSA official who aided you with your application.

To Apply Online R350 Grant For the Unemployed ;
- Visit the SASSA services official website on any device with internet connectivity
- Register as a new user on the SASSA services website, by clicking the yellow “Register”
- Provide the required personal information
- Log in to the SASSA services website using your newly created username and password.
- Click on “Apply for a Grant” and then select the type of grant you wish to apply for.
- Fill in the grant application form by providing all the required information.
- Print the affidavit prepared by SASSA and get it certified by an oath commissioner. Print, sign, and mail your affidavit together with the Bank Payment Form.
- Upload the following certified supporting documents in PDF format.
