SASSA Payment Breakdown: How Much You Get Per Month:
Many South Africans rely on SASSA (South African Social Security Agency) grants to make ends meet, especially during tough economic times. Whether it is the Child Support Grant, Older Person’s Grant, Disability Grant, or the SRD R370 grant, each grant amount is designed to offer financial relief to those in need. Understanding exactly how much you can receive from SASSA each month is crucial for budgeting and planning your household finances.
As of 2025, the monthly amounts vary depending on the type of grant. For example, the Older Person’s Grant pays up to R2,180 for individuals under 75 and R2,200 for those over 75. The Child Support Grant offers R530 per child, and the Foster Child Grant provides R1,180 monthly. Meanwhile, the SRD (Social Relief of Distress) grant, commonly referred to as the R350 grant, was increased to R370 per month in April 2024.
These payments are meant to support vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, persons with disabilities, and unemployed individuals without a source of income. Knowing the exact SASSA payment amounts can help you check if your grant is being paid correctly and allow you to plan better for your monthly needs. If you are thinking of applying or are already a beneficiary, staying informed about the current SASSA rates is essential.
