NSFAS is a program assisting students in South Africa that gives expected applicants who are seeking financial aid to achieve their academic purpose. The applications begin in November 2024 and end in January 2025. Date To Submit NSFAS Application

The date for the NSFAS application for the next academic year 2025-2026:

Opening Date: November 21, 2024

Closing Date: January 31, 2025

Take Note: The application must be submitted before the due date given

 

Eligibility Criteria To Apply For NSFAS 2025

• Valid E-mail and Password
• Permanent resident or South African citizen
• SASSA grant recipientt
• Candidates whose combined gross household income is not more than R350,000 per annum
• Individuals with a disability condition whose gross household income is not more than R600,000 per annum

Other Documents To Present 2025

If applicable other required documents:

• Retrenchment Letter
• Death Certificate/s
• Divorce Decree
• Marriage Certificate
• Proof of legal guardianship
• other documents may be required for appeal purposes…..eg retrenchment letter

How To Apply For NSFAS 2025

To submit the NSFAS Application, use this link www.nsfas.org.za portal and follow the steps below:

• Create a Profile:

Create a myNSFAS account via this link: https://my.nsfas.org.za/ or download the NSFAS App on Google Play or App Store. Your ID number will be your username.

• Apply now:

Click on the ”Apply” tab to update your personal information and upload your application supporting documents as indicated.

• Completed:

Submit your application

Breakdown of NSFAS Allowances for 2025

University Students Allowances

• Accommodation: As per the actual costs charged by the university(costs for private accommodation must not exceed costs for university residence)
• Transport:(up to 40 km from the institution)R7 500 per year
• A living allowance of R15,000 per year
• Book allowance R5200 per year
• Incidental/personal care allowance of R2900 per year for students in catered residences

TVET College NSFAS Allowance

• Accommodation in an urban area is R24,000 per year
• Accommodation in a peri-urban area is R18,900 per year
• Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per year
• Transport(up to 40 km from the institution) R7.350 per year
• Transport R7000 per year
• Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per year
