Is It Too Late To Get A Sassa Grant?
SRD R370 Grant: Will It Still Be Paid in 2026?
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) offers different types of grants to help people who are in need, including the Child Support Grant, Older Persons’ Grant, Disability Grant, and the SRD R370 Grant. These grants are open for applications all year round, which means it is never too late to apply to receive the Sassa grant.
You can still apply for a SASSA grant as long as you meet the requirements and have the correct documents. The only time it might be too late is if you waited too long to reapply after a rejection, or if the specific grant, like the SRD grant, has reached its funding limit or deadline. For example, the SRD grant is currently available until March 2026, and it is important to apply before that funding ends unless the government announces an extension.
Each grant has its own rules, so it is important to check the latest updates on the official SASSA website or visit your nearest office. You can also apply online for some grants, making the process easier and faster. So, no, it is not too late to apply, but do not delay. The sooner you apply, the sooner you can get help if you qualify. If you are unsure whether you are eligible or how to apply, there’s support available to guide you every step of the way.

Submitting A Personal Application For a SASSA Grant
To apply in person, you will need to visit a SASSA office close to you. If you are unable to visit the SASSA office yourself, due to being too sick, old, or disabled, you may have a family member or friend apply for you. They should bring a letter from you authorizing the application.
The application form is available at the SASSA office and must be completed in the presence of a SASSA officer. A SASSA officer will be able to assist you or your appointed person to complete the application form if you or they are unable to do so.
After the application form has been completed in full, you will receive a dated stamped receipt, with the name of the SASSA official who assisted in your application. You will need to keep your receipt as proof of application. The application process is FREE.
