SASSA R350

The SASSA R350 Aid is a unique form of assistance introduced by the government in response to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The official name of this aid is the Special Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD). Under this program, the government has committed to providing R350 per month for six months to individuals who are currently unemployed. The aid is commonly referred to as the “SASSA R350 Aid” due to the amount of money being disbursed (R350). All Requirement

The Head of State announced the National State of Calamity due to the global Covid-19 outbreak. Consequently, he launched a specific COVID-19 Social Assistance Grant (SAG) of R350 per month for half a year, which will be disbursed to unemployed people who do not receive any kind of income, social benefits, or UIF payment, among others.

This Social Assistance Programme was ratified in the Regulations formulated under Section 27(2) of the Disaster Management Act, 2002 (Act No. 57 of 2002): Measures to avert and combat the spread of COVID-19, as revised.
