SASSA Supporting Document 2025

It is important to ensure that all supporting documents are correct and are recent. Any false information will disqualify your application. The onus lies on the applicant to ensure that all supporting documents are correct and up to date.

Means Test

This is how the income levels of applicants are determined. Most times, some claims are so vague and because the number of applicants is many, it is important to be able to determine claims of people who state that they are on incomes lower than minimum wage or don’t earn income at all.

This test takes into consideration the income you earn, the assets you have and your expenditure. Once the agency has all these details, it can calculate and determine if you qualify to be given a grant or not.

This is why it is important to be truthful and accurate in the information you give. If you give false data, it could result in a denial of your application because when the means test is done, it might result in a different story than what you have told the agency.

Payment Schedule

There isn’t a “one size fits all” schedule for all the grants. Your payment schedules will depend largely on the type of grant you applied for. The general rule however is that beneficiaries receive their stipends into their bank accounts on the first day of each month.

Renewal Process

The grants given by the SASSA are not a permanent thing. These are a temporal measure to alleviate the suffering of the vulnerable and needy. The R350 for example is given for only three (3) consecutive months. If you intend to continue to receive the grant, you have to submit new documents to the agency that will convince them that your situation has not become better than before you started taking the grant. Only then can your grant be renewed.
