It is an open case whether SASSA will distribute social grants, but applicants must meet certain criteria to be eligible:

The applicant must be a South African citizen, permanent resident or refugee.
The applicant must be a resident of South Africa.
The applicant must be 18 to 59 years of age.
The applicant must submit a medical / assessment report confirming permanent, severe disability.
The applicant’s medical assessment must not be older than 3 months at the date of application.
The applicant and spouse must meet the requirements of the means test.
The applicant must not be maintained or cared for in a State Institution.
The applicant must not receive another social grant in respect of him or herself.

Based on the outcome of the authentication, your application will either be sanctioned or dismissed with a rationale.

The website is https://srd.sassa.gov.za/ where you can check your status.
Click on Check Status under the application status tab.
The Sassa Status Page will now appear.
You now need to enter your ID number and phone number.
The next step is to click the Submit button.
Your application status will be displayed once you click Submit.
