SASSA Grant

SASSA Grant Schedule for 2026–2027: Who Gets Paid When?:

The SASSA Grant is a vital financial support system provided by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) to assist vulnerable individuals and families across the country. Designed to reduce poverty and promote social development, these grants offer monthly financial assistance to people who are unemployed, elderly, living with disabilities, or caring for children. With millions of South Africans depending on these grants for basic survival, the SASSA system plays a key role in improving lives and addressing inequality.

There are various types of SASSA grants available, each tailored to meet specific needs. These include the Older Person’s Grant, Disability Grant, Child Support Grant, Foster Child Grant, Care Dependency Grant, and the Grant-in-Aid. In addition, the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant, currently valued at R370 per month, provides temporary assistance to unemployed individuals who do not receive any other form of income.

To receive a SASSA grant, applicants must meet certain eligibility criteria and go through a verification process. Once approved, beneficiaries receive their payments through bank accounts, ATMs, or designated retailers such as Shoprite, Boxer, Checkers, and Pick n Pay.

As living costs rise, the government has committed to increasing grant amounts to help recipients meet their basic needs. Regular updates on SASSA payment dates, application procedures, and policy changes are made available on the official SASSA website. Whether you are applying for the first time or already receiving a grant, staying informed about the latest SASSA grant news ensures you get the support you need, on time and without issues.
