SASSA SRD R350 happens to be another name for the South African Social Security (SASSA) Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant.   • Your bread winner has been admitted to an institution that is state funded. This could be prison, psychiatric hospital, state home for older persons, treatment center for substance abuse or child and youth care center.
  • You have suffered some natural disaster as defined in the Disaster Management Act or the Fund Raising Act, 1978.
  • You are as of the time of applying not receiving any assistance from any other organization or.
  • If you are refused the grant, it will lead to you suffering undue hardships.
  1. You must be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or a refugee with a valid permit.
  2. You must be above the age of 18.
  3. You must not be receiving any other form of social grant or unemployment insurance.
  4. You must not be employed or receiving any income.
  5. You must not have a bank account.

Application Process for SASSA SRD R350

The SASSA SRD R350 grant can be applied for online, via WhatsApp or by visiting a SASSA office. The online application process is the most convenient and quickest method.

To apply online, follow these simple steps:

  • First open the official site of the SASSA online:
  • Look for the “SRD Grant” link on the homepage and click on it.
  • If this is the first time you are applying for the grant, you will have to register first.
  • You register by supplying some details about yourself: These include your name, your ID number, your telephone number and your residential address
  • After registration, an SMS will be sent to your number with your username and password.
  • Now, with the username and password given you, you can now log into your account
  • Go ahead and fill in the application form now by supplying the requested information such as your personal details, your bank details, and contact information.
  • Upon completing the form online, click on the “submit” button
  • Waiting patiently for a confirmation message

You can always check the status of your application by logging in to your account and clicking on the “check status” button.

To apply via WhatsApp, follow these instructions:

  • First, save the SASSA WhatsApp number (082 046 8553) to your contacts
  • Then, send a message to the number that says “Hi” or “Hello”
  • Once you do, you will receive a prompt for your application
  • Follow this prompt to complete your application
  • Now, give your banking details where you can receive your assistance.
  • If you don’t have a bank account, select “cash payment option”

After you submit your application, you will receive a reference number via WhatsApp that you can use to check the status of your application.

The SASSA SRD grant is a temporary measure to lessen the burden of beneficiaries.
