SASSA SRD Status 2024-2025: What Does My SASSA SRD Status Mean?

South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) Social Relief of Distress (SRD)  is a program planned to assist South African citizens who are facing financial challenges due to circumstances such as unemployment, disability, or illness. The program provides temporary financial help to persons who are not receiving any other type of income or government support.
In order to apply for SASSA SRD, applicants must meet certain eligibility criteria, including being a South African citizen or permanent resident, being unemployed and not receiving any income, and not receiving any other form of a social grant or financial assistance. Applicants must provide evidence of their financial situation, such as bank statements and proof of residence.

How To Check SASSA SRD Status

To check your status, follow these steps:

  • Visit the SASSA website: The SASSA website is the official platform where applicants can check their application status. Go to www.sassa.gov.za and select the “SRD Status” option from the menu bar.
  • Enter your ID number: Once you are on the SRD Status page, enter your ID number in the field provided. Click the “Submit” button.
  • View your status: After clicking “Submit,” your SASSA SRD Status will be displayed. If your application is still pending, the status will indicate that it is “In Progress.” If your application has been approved, the status will indicate that it is “Approved.”

 

What Does My SASSA SRD Status Mean?

After checking your status, you will receive one of the following:

  • Application complete: This means they got your application and there is nothing further you need to do.
  • Bank details pending: This means that they got your application or reapplication but that you did not submit your banking information or the payment method you chose.
  • Pending reapplication: This implies that they have NOT received your reapplication.
  • Period Pending: This means that SASSA is presently verifying your application for that specific month; no further action is necessary.
  • Period Approved: This status shows that your application was approved for that month.
  • Period Declined: When you see this status, it means that they have unfortunately denied your application for that month.
  • Cancelled: This status implies that they have been cancelled.
