Requirements For NSFAS 2025

For the 2025-2026 academic year, Applicant must meet the following requirements:

• South African citizens or permanent residents
• SASSA grant recipients
• Applicants whose combined gross household income is not more than R350 000 per year
• Individuals with disabilities whose combined gross household income is not more than R600 000 per year.
• Applicant must have a valid email and cell phone number

What Document Must NSFAS Applicant Submit 2025

These documents must be available before starting the NSFAS 2025 Application

Students with disabilities must provide:

• A finished and signed Disability Annexure A Form

Students recognised as vulnerable children must provide:

An applicant who is recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide and Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker

Other documents that may be required, if applicable:

• Retrenchment letter
• Death certificate/s
• Divorce Decree
• Proof of legal guardianship
• Marriage certificate
• other documents may be required for appeal purposes,….eg retrenchment letter.

How to Apply for NSFAS Funding 2025-2026

NSFAS disburses payment using the payment schedule provided below;

First Semester NSFAS Payment Date:

• Cycle 1 – All Campuses 26 February 2025
• Cycle 2 – All Campuses 06 March 2025
• Cycle 3 – All Campuses 22 April 2025
• Cycle 4 – All Campuses 20 May 2025
• Cycle 5 – All Campuses Monday 17 June 2025

Second Semester NSFAS Payment Date

• Cycle 6 – All Other Campuses 08 July 2025
