NSFAS Application 2026-2027 Online:

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme, NSFAS Online Application 2026 academic year will be available from 01 September 2025 and will close around January 2026. Prospective applicants who want to apply for financial aid to further their tertiary education can visit NSFAS website at www.nsfas.org.za and apply for 2026 season. It is necessary for all applicant to note that there are certain requirements that they have to meet in order to get NSFAS Bursary approval for 2026.

Meanwhile, we are encouraging all applicants to check their 2025 NSFAS application status on the myNSFAS portal. NSFAS has recently updated the list of all provisionally funded applicants due to a significant increase in funding for 2025. If successful, congratulations. If your application was unsuccessful and you wish to appeal, feel free and use the appeal process form for the 2025 academic year.

A student whose application for financial aid is rejected, or the financial support for a continuing student is withdrawn can apply for an appeal with the NSFAS. Please, remember the following when appealing:

• The appeal decisions are subject to budget availability.
• Appeals will only be considered for students who has applied to NSFAS for Financial Aid.

Who Cannot Appeal for NSFAS 2025?

The following students are not permitted to appeal if they:

• Are registered for a qualification that NSFAS does not fund
• They have reached N+2 or N+3 in the case of students with disabilities.
• The student is a gap year student who NSFAS previously denied financial aid to because s/he did not meet the academic eligibility criteria.
• The institution has not submitted their registration record to NSFAS or has submitted an incorrect registration record such enquiries should be directed to the institution.

You must submit NSFAS appeal within 30 days of receiving your application results. Login to your myNSFAS profile and provide the required details.
