SASSA R350 Grant Application Online 2023-2024 August | The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) R350 grant is a grant that has existed successfully since its inception. Even thought it is a short term measure that was instituted to help people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, it has seen several revisits. It has been reintroduced several times to continue to serve people of South Africa and permanent residents.

Because of these reintroduction of policies, it is possible that the South African government will open for applications again in the month of August in the year 2023 and continue throughout to the year 2024.

As a short term measure that had the aim of helping people who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is still relevant today since the pandemic has subsided but not totally gone yet. Beneficiaries get a monthly support of R350

  • You must be a permanent resident in South Africa, or must be a citizen of South Africa.
  • You must be at least 18 years of age
  • You should be earning less that the minimum wage or have no source of income or financial support
  • You should not be on any other grant or any other form of social or unemployment insurance
  • You should not have applied for or received any grant from the SASSA before
  • Once you meet all of the requirements listed, you can continue with your application process.
  • If you are a student too,  you should not be receiving assistance from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS)

How to Apply:

You can apply for the grant in a number of ways.

  1. Online: You choose to visit the official  site  of the agency and then register. Once you register with your personal details such as your ID, your contact information and banking details, you can apply online.
  2. WhatsApp: You can also send a WhatsApp to the line of the agency at 082 0468 553. You will receive a feedback that will require you to provide your personal details to enable you apply for a grant.
  3. SASSA Offices: You can also locate any of the SASSA offices close to you and then pick up forms and fill them. After that, you will attach all the supporting documents and submit them.
  4. Post Office: With your ID and supporting documents, you can visit the post office and apply for a grant.
  5. USSD: Dial1347737# from your phone, you will receive prompts and you have to follow these prompts to finish up your application process.

To use the online portal, use these instructions

Step 1: Open the official SASSA website and click on the “Grants” button.

Step 2: Now choose the “COVID-19 SRD Grant” among the options that pop up.

Step 3: Search for the “Apply Now” button and click on it.

Step 4: You must read the terms and conditions very well to click on “I Agree” button.

Step 5: Put in your personal information, such as your name, your surname, and ID number.

Step 6: Give correct answers to  the eligibility questions. A false answer will disqualify your application

Step 7: Provide your bank account details, this will be your bank name, account number, and branch code.

Step 8: Check to be sure every information in correct before you click on “Submit”.

Documents Required for SASSA R350 Grant Application Online 2023-2024 August

To apply for the SRD grant, you will need to provide the following documents:

  1. Your ID document.
  2. Proof of income, such as a recent payslip or bank statement.
  3. Proof of residence, such as a utility bill or lease agreement.
  4. Any other relevant documents, such as a death certificate if you are applying on behalf of a deceased person.
